How to Prepare Images for a Website
Website image prep is a simple sequence: choose the crop, resize to the layout, convert if useful, then compress.
Doing this before publishing keeps pages cleaner and faster.
Recommended tool
Open Resize ImageCrop for composition
Crop first when the page needs a square card, a 16:9 hero, or a specific visual focus.
This avoids awkward automatic cropping in the layout.
Resize for the rendered area
Resize the image near the largest size it will display on the page.
Large source files should not be shipped just because the browser can scale them down.
Convert and compress
Use WebP when it is supported by your site and audience.
Compress the final output to remove unnecessary weight while preserving enough quality.
